Second Korean War?

Since 1953, North Korea and South Korea have lived a shaky and separate life on the two different areas of the DMZ ( demilitarized zone). The North is poor Communist region with strong military and is ruled with a iron fist. The South is a democratic wonderland that is far advanced in technology then it's counterpart. After sixty years one man is trying destroy the peace surrounding the Korea and that man is Kim Jong Un.
Last month, North Korea announced the armistice( peace treaty to not attack one another) " nullified".  They also threatened to launch a " pre-emptive missile strike" on the U.S and South Korea. The U.S dispatched B-2 stealth bombers over South Korea to intimidate the North. Concerned about Kim's intentions the U.S said it dispense $1 billion for missile defenses in Alaska and California. Former U.S ambassador Donald Gregg said " The Korean peninsula is heading into a difficult and very dangerous period." North Korea has been troubling the U.S for a quite some  time. They detonated their first nuclear bomb in 2006 and three years later they did it again. In 2010 the North revealed they have a uranium-enrichment plant which was thought to be for creating nuclear weapons. Finally in February they once again tested another launch against the wishes of it's only ally, China.

South Korea's president Park Geun-hye said " the North's threats are intended to strengthen Kim's leadership at home and put pressure on the U.S and South Korea". Park has assured that South Korea will strike back against North Korea if attacked but also she wants to build "trust" with them. Even though it seems Kim doesn't like Americans he likes basketball and  is good friends with NBA player Dennis Rodman. He attended a game and party in Pyongyang. After his return Rodman wanted "Obama to do one thing: Call him. He suggested that Kim doesn't want to go war with but his past bizarre behavior adduces otherwise.

I think Kim is a power-hungry dictator who will stop at nothing to further his reign. He doesn't care for his people: it's said that North Korea that there is little to none Internet access, poverty rages across the country, and people live in fear of being being sent to camps if they rebel against him. We have seen his type before and know that they need to be kept in order at all times. What do think America should do?

In conclusion I hope North Korea gets a leader that will finally reunite the North and South together and end this petty conflict. The last thing the world needs is more war. I know peace is hard to obtain but I believe if enough determination is put forth then every issue can be resolved.

Does America Need A Raise?

President Obama wants to raise the minimum wage rate from $7.25 to $9.25 an hour. There has a combination of negative and positive feedback from this choice.

At the State of the Union address Obama said " This single step would raise the incomes of millions of working families. It could mean the difference between or the food bank, rent or eviction, scraping by or finally getting ahead. For business across the country, it would  mean customers with more money in their pockets." Some agree with this action because minimum wage employees would get an extra $3500 a year. Also labor groups say that by raising the minimum wage will give more money to people who will mostly spend it: giving back to the community.

But there are those who disagree with this action. Some people say that by making employees more expensive will boost the unemployment rate which is at 7.7% to possibly 12%. Business owners later gave an example on what could happen if this law is passed. If a restaurant owner in Texas has to boost the dishwasher pay to $9, he'll probably have to raise the cooks already-higher salary as well. This forces the owner to make terrible decisions that will effect the economy including increasing prices, hire fewer workers, and decrease the number of working hours.

I personally think Obama is making a good choice. There are millions of underpaid employees who work hard and don't get anything in return. But honestly I believe Obama should be tackling bigger problems like the issue with North Korea. But he said their is going to be change and he's making sure it happens. Who knows what any of the choices the government make will have a positive or negative effect. The only way to find out is try it and if doesn't work out then find another way to solve it. I personally believe this man can change a lot of things if he says determined. What do you think?

In conclusion I can't wait to see this law passed because I know millions of people want it to and to the people who think otherwise; YOU EITHER CAN LEAVE THE COUNTRY OR MAN UP AND EXCEPT CHANGE.

Dog Mauling

A 14-year old was savagely killed by a pack of dogs last week in UK. Police found her dead when they got a call about a unconscious girl and "out-of-control dogs". She was later identified as Jade Anderson

 American Bulldog

 Bull Mastiff

 Staffordshire bull Terrier

When police arrived on the scene they were approached by a four dogs. Four were killed while one was stuck in the house. Police described the dogs as aggressive. An autopsy will be conducted on the dead dogs to determine why they attacked Jane. Police Superintendent Mark Kenny said it was "deeply distressing incident for everyone involved and they are understandably devastated by what has happened, as are Jade's circle of friends. Later a hypothesis was announced why Jade was attacked. Mark said she could have been attacked because she bought a meat into her friends house. But the attack occurred at lunchtime, after she left and reappeared. Also a Twitter account for her high school put this up " This afternoon we sadly lost one of our students, Jade Anderson. Our thoughts are with her parents and family".

I saw comments on CNN that said that certain dog breeds are more dangerous than others. But I disagree with that statement because I know lots of pit bulls and rottweilers that are some of the friendliest animals I've ever seen. But most of the time I get bite when it comes to smaller dogs like chihuahua and pugs. It doesn't matter what dog breed it is, but how that dog is raised and treated. If a dog gets abused then most likely its going to be vicious and impulsive. When raised with love and care they are blissful. Sometimes this doesn't matter but primarily; how owner conducts his dog is how it will turn out. The family of Jade's friend's probably didn't treat the dogs that good which resulted in her death.

In conclusion I believe the police should check the bodies of the dogs to determine if what they did was possibly triggered because of something inflicted physically or was it just a accident. As I said in my last blog animals live with humans and deserve the same amount of respect as any other species.

Massacre of the Elephants

Elephants are some the biggest animals in the world. They roam the forest and plains of Africa without fear of  attack from other dangerous animals. But there is something out there that doesn't fear the elephants, it tracks and kills them without remorse: that threat is poachers.

The elephant population is quickly dwindling. A study from PLoS One shows that 62 percent of elephants have vanished from 2002-2011 and it's getting worst. The main reason why elephants are being hunted out of existence is for their ivory (tusks). Their ivory was used to make billiard balls, piano keys, combs, buckles, and etc. But this items are now made with plastic. But China and other Far East countries, demand for the ivory trinkets has greatly ascended. Ivory can be compared with diamonds; both have little value,  but are displayed and sold for thousands of dollars.

What  poachers don't know is that by continuing to killing these great animals they are slowly dooming their planet. Forest elephants play a vital role in maintaining the life of the forest they live in. They eat the fruit of the trees, then travel throughout the forest and spread lots of seeds when they relive themselves. This trees grow and supply oxygen to the Earth which we all need to survive. Also with murder of the mother elephants , thousands of baby elephants dying without the care and protection of their mothers.

When are humans going to learn that we aren't the only species on this planet. Every animal has a god given right to be on this planet no matter how big or small. Just because they look different doesn't they aren't like us. The feel pain, sorrow, happiness the same way we do, but their are people out there that consider themselves superior. In reality these animals have lived on this planet longer then any of us. Some even commit actions that improve the environment, thus helping us and we still treat them with so little respect.

In conclusion I hope in time that poaching will eventually stop and animals will be treated equally. People need to start thinking: how would I feel if my home was destroyed and I was separated from child, knowing he needs me and will possible die without me. Maybe then something will be done to ensure the safety of this animals.

Dead Pigs

Over 6,000 dead pig carcasses were found in the Shanghai River. Chinese officials say that even more pigs are expected to be found but they insist that the waters clean. Chinese authorities are searching for the culprit behind this crime.

The dead pigs have been floating down the Shanghai river since last Friday. Labels in the pigs ears indicated they originated from Jiaxing City. Chinese officials are blaming local pig farmers for dumping pigs and annoying the laws. The cities government released information that over 70,000 pigs died from weather and  living conditions in the beginning of the year. Another problem is the selling of tainted meat. The court in Zhejiang Province has sentenced 46 people for selling diseased meat.

Officials have been telling the public that in fact the water is clean, but samples of porcine circovirus  were found in the water according to Xinhua ( a Chinese state-run news agency). Their two types of porcine circovirus but none are lethal to humans says the World Health Organization. For days sanitation workers have been fishing the decomposed bodies of the pigs. A local told CNN " There were dead pigs all around and they really stunk, of course we're worried, but what can you do about it? It's water that we have to drink and use".

This is just sick if you ask me. The person who committed this crime will probably spend his life in jail. Not only did he dump illegally, but he endangered hundreds of peoples lives with the contaminated water. Why doesn't anybody think before they act?

In conclusion I think the whole company responsible for this should  be shut down to avoid any future issues.
Why doesn't it occur to people that if you do something illegal then you will suffer the consequences. I can't wait to hear what happens culprits. They deserve the harshest punsihment possible!!

Sisters At War

War has always been fought with men. Women have always had jobs as nurses or medical personnel. But all that is about to end, the Department of Defense will lift it's long-standing ban on women participating in combat.

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta had this to say on women joining men in combat  " They're fighting and they're dying together, and the time has come for our policies to reflect that reality".  Also military officials are saying over 200,000 jobs our opening up for woman, including Delta Force and Navy Seals. The Pentagon announced requirements to  will not be curtailed for women. They get the same treatment as men.

In November 12, 2012 the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against the ban of servicewoman. They say Major Mary Jennings Hegar, a helicopter pilot was shot down, then returned fire and was wounded in the process. But still couldn't purse combat positions because her experiences weren't considered actually combat. Greg Jacob, a former U.S Marine Corps officer said "When the military goes to full integration, it allows commanders to put the best person in the job, not just the best man. If the best shot in the platoon is a woman, I can make her a sniper."

I think women should have been allowed in the army years ago. Women can do about anything a man can do. Some people are concerned about mothers being taken away from children, but fathers have been out their fighting and dying the whole time. Woman have been treated differently for years because of their stature. Some would say a woman isn't as strong as a man but the truth is woman are just as strong or even stronger.

People say woman don't have the killing instinct of a man, well that's not true. Look at lions for example, the males stay and protect the pride while the females hunt the food. The pride can't survive without one another. If that's not a good example then I don't know what is.

In conclusion I'm glad they lifted the ban, everyone is equal to one another. So we all should be allowed to acquire the jobs.

Cyber Pearl Harbor

12/7/13 was the day when the Imperial Japanese Navy executed a covert attack on Pearl Harbor. The attack killed 2,402 people and wounded 1,282. A total of 6 ships were sunk while 21 were damaged and are we facing another epidemic like this?

On August 15, 2012 Saudi Arabia's oil company, Saudi Aramco( which is worth $7 trillion), was attacked. A virus had spread through the system, deleting 75% of all the documents, spreadsheets, e-mails, files and leaving a burning american flag in it's place. When the virus stopped it spread to and disabled over 30,000 computers. Also, it sent a message to other nations including the U.S about how defenseless the world is to cyber attack.

U.S intelligence concluded that the attack came from Iran. This attack not only affected Saudi Arabia but the U.S to, since we get a majority of our oil from there. Richard Clarke, a former White House counter terrorism official said, " It proved you don't have to be sophisticated to do a lot of damage." Information has been leaked that the U.S has launched cyber attacks on Iran's nuclear plants in the past. They code-named these assault's Olympic Games. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said " An aggressor nation or extremist group could use these kinds of cyber tools to derail passenger trains, or trains loaded with chemicals.

After reading this article this made me question the U.S power. We're not an independent country, we need other countries help. That's are greatest strength and weakness. It's not a bad thing but we need to anticipate situations like this. If we sent cyber attacks to Iran then we should have expected one back.

Also this makes me question the safety of the U.S. They say cyber attacks could derail trains and shut down technology. This would drive the U.S into panic and cause thousands of deaths. Hopefully, precautions are being made just in case this happens.

In conclusion I hope this never happens to the U.S or any country in fact and if Iran launches an attack on us then we should immediately strike back and destroy their country.
